Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Meta Title?

The Meta Title (or Title Tag) is an HTML element that defines the title of a webpage. It is displayed on search engine result pages (SERPs) as the clickable headline.

What is the ideal Title length?

Google typically displays the first 50–60 characters of a title tag. If you keep your titles under 60 characters, you can expect about 90% of your titles to display properly.

What is a Meta Description?

It is a snippet of up to ~160 characters in the HTML of a webpage that summarizes the page's content. Search engines often show it below the title in results.

Does Meta Description affect ranking?

Not directly. Google does not use the description for ranking algorithms. However, a good description improves Click-Through Rate (CTR), which is a ranking signal.

What if I don't write a description?

If you leave it blank, Google will generate a snippet from the visible content on your page. This might not always be the most attractive summary for users.

Why is my title truncated?

If your title is too long (over 600 pixels wide, roughly 60 characters), Google will cut it off and add "..." at the end.
